Medicines Worth Millions Of $ Imported To Iran; Apologists Still Blame Sanctions

ICBPS- Millions of dollars of medicine are imported into Iran annually, but the regime’s apologists in western countries claim sanctions imposed on Tehran are the main reason for drug shortages in the country.

Yet, officials in Iran have [continuously] emphasized 80 percent of Iran’s problems caused by mismanagement and corruption, not sanctions.

According to state-run news, at least $860 million worth of medicine has been imported to Iran in the first 9 months of the Iranian year. The figure, however, has been decreased to 5.7 percent, comparing last year, but it has not been caused by sanctions. According to Iranian customs statistics, 839 thousand tons of fruits and garden products worth nearly $869 million also have been imported to Iran during the first 9 months of the Iranian year. The products imported have been included bananas, oil, tea, turmeric, peppers, coffee, fruit juices, and spices.

On October 15, 2020, Iraqi Army Intelligence forces reported they have seized the largest medicine smuggling shipment from Iran ever.

According to the local media, the Iraqi army confiscated 19 Iranian trucks containing medicine with hundreds of dollars worth.

The trucks planned to enter the Iraqi territory for alleged tax evasion illegally while Iran Coronavirus records hit again.

Iraqi agents arrested smugglers, seized the overloaded-trucks, and handed over them to authorities, reported IRGC-run Tabnak News.

Such a huge shipment cannot leave the country by crossing a long way without receiving Iran’s intelligence and IRGC ‘green light’.

Earlier, state-run media quoted the deputy of Iran’s Food and Drug Administration that ‘medicine is not only smuggled to Iraq, but the eastern neighbors such as Pakistan and Afghanistan are also great opportunities for death dealers.’
